Prelude to Touch

Expand the span of space
Stretching from ear to ear my face
Like lace across my breast
That throb like that of a
Nervous hand
Undulating up and down
To steady the nervous calm
Of breath,
Softly warming the inner edge of
moist lips
That throb and flicker
Like pulses throughout those
Sensitive pulses
Placed throughout the body
Like treasures
marked with crosses
By the imaginations of
An innocent child.
